Depending on your handset this means you need to simply select and click the link in the message or extract the link to your WAP bookmarks.

See the typical instructions for the models of Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Sanyo and BlackBerry phones.

You need to have WAP (mobile web) service activated on your mobile phone.

Nokia
On newer Nokia phones just select "Find URL" or "Find Web Address". This will locate the download link in your SMS message and allow you to click on it to start download. On older Nokia phones, you have to edit the text message and remove everything except the link and then click "Use Detail" for the URL.

Motorola
Usually, you have to hit the top-middle button on your Motorola phone and select "Goto". This will start up the mobile web browser and open the link you received in the SMS message.

Samsung
Most Samsung phones have a "Cut Address" option, this would find the link in your SMS message and allow you to open it. On a few Samsung phones you have to open the link manually, meaning you have to type it into your mobile Internet browser.

Sony Ericsson
On the majority of Sony Ericsson phones you usually scroll down through the SMS message. The link will be highlighted automatically and just click it to start the mobile web browser.

Sanyo
On Sanyo phones you most often have to scroll down through the SMS message. The link will be highlighted automatically, then just click on it to start download.

<![CDATA[What is a WAP Push?]]> http://mobilehelpdesk.graphico.co.uk/kb/index.php/article/5 92d68dc8fab0616afb4037b8f1210f32 WAP Push messages are specially formatted SMS messages that display an alert message to the phone, and gives the user the option of connecting directly to a particular URL via the mobile phone's WAP browser rather than having to type in the URL to get to the content.

We send a WAP push message in response to a request from a user e.g. txt message request. There are variations on the name of a WAP push depending on the make of phone that you are using. Here are the most common ones:

  • Nokia - "Service Message"
  • Sharp - "WAP Alert"
  • Samsung - "Push Message"
  • Motorola - "Browser Message"
  • Sony Ericsson - "[name of site/page]WAP"
  • Sagem - "WAP Push"
  • Panasonic - "WAP Message"
